Declutter is built around a simple promise: your files are yours. This policy explains exactly what the desktop app and this website do — and, just as importantly, what they don't.

The desktop app collects no data

The Declutter desktop application (macOS, Windows, Ubuntu and Linux) is designed to work entirely on your machine:

No account required. You don't sign in or create a profile to use it.
No telemetry of file contents. We never read, upload, or analyze the contents of your files on a server.
Files never leave your device. Scanning, the treemap, size lists, quarantine and deletion all happen locally.
No background daemon. The app only does work while you have it open and ask it to.

Any quarantine or history the app keeps is stored locally on your own disk and can be cleared by you at any time.

This website

The marketing website (declutter.techeeez.com) is a static site. If privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics are configured, they record only aggregate, non-identifying usage (such as page views) and never sell or share your data. We do not use invasive cross-site advertising trackers.

The newsletter

Our newsletter is strictly opt-in and uses double opt-in: after you enter your email, we send a confirmation link, and you are only added once you click it. For each subscriber we store:

Your email address.
Timestamps for when you subscribed and confirmed.
Confirmation and unsubscribe tokens used to manage your subscription.

We do not store your name, location, or any other profile data. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you immediately. We never sell, rent, or share subscriber emails with third parties.

Data retention

Subscriber records are kept only while you remain subscribed. When you unsubscribe, your address is flagged as unsubscribed so we don't email you again; you may also request full deletion (see below).

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. Material changes affecting subscribers will be communicated by email where appropriate.
