Terms of Service
Effective date: September 9, 2026
These terms govern your use of the Declutter desktop application and this website. By using Declutter, you agree to them. We've kept them short and plain.
License
Declutter is provided under a permissive, MIT-style license. You may use it freely for personal and commercial purposes. The name, logo and branding remain ours.
Provided “as is”
Declutter is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the authors and copyright holders are not liable for any claim, damages, data loss, or other liability arising from the use of the software.
You are responsible for what you delete
Declutter is engineered to make destructive actions safe and deliberate:
- It quarantines items before deleting them, so approved removals are recoverable.
- It requires your explicit, per-phase approval before anything is moved or removed.
- The AI copilot is read-only and cannot delete or widen the scope of a cleanup on its own.
Even so, you remain responsible for reviewing the files and folders you approve for removal. Please read each cleanup preview before approving it, and empty the quarantine only when you're sure. We are not responsible for data you choose to delete.
Acceptable use
Don't use Declutter to violate the law or to interfere with systems you don't have permission to modify. Don't misrepresent the software as your own or remove its license notices.
Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date at the top reflects the latest version. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
